Due to all the wildfires in my area, they made spark arrestors mandatory. I would rather not buy a whole new silencer for a new 2017 . Is there a decent alternative that doesnt plug, or do i spring for a Turbine core. Cam.

Last season my cousin put the ee end cap on.
Within a pretty short time, in the middle of a race, he found out the hard way that it was already plugged up.
Ended up having to bail on the race.

I think the ee costs around $100.00.
I bought an fmf can for around $150.00 I think and it has been great.
1 repack at around 80 hours.

The turbinecore 2 is basically the powercore 2
with a spark arrestor. Works great but slightly louder and has to be packed more often. The turbine 2.1 is the newest is a little quieter and packing holds a little longer.

my 2016 TE 300 has just over 3,000 miles and 190 hours on a FMF turbine core spark arrestor and it still is in perfect shape still on the original packing same piston and rings too

My TC 125 has the same set up FMF set up works for me

I ended up with the PC 296. My first non-FMF silencer. Cam.

The fit took a bit of fiddling. First try, the mount hole spacing was off by 2mm. Second try, the PC mounting spacers are a bit wider that the OEM which made my lift handle not fit as the super long bolts were not long enough to bite the threads. I had to cut 3/16" off the rear handle spacer to get the bolt to bite the threads. PITA but still a nice OEM looking silencer with a SA. Cam.

But sounds good. Just a teeny bit quieter than stock and looks oem. Cam.

That was my first plan, but then read many reports (true or not?) of them plugging on a 2t due to the small screen size. I started with a nice sink strainer from the dollar store. Cam.

If you're gonna' ride in the Nat Forest around here you need a FS approved SA. Plus, screen type SA clog up especially on a 2T.

Turbine core type is the best. They've been around for a long time. The Answer on my 84 IT is that type. However
even with a stamp some people get confused. I had an issue a couple years back at the gate in Gorman. The lady insisted my spark arrestor on the old IT had blown out because her stick went in too far. I tried to explain to her that it was not because it's way down before the silencer section. She made me wait for a ranger to let him decide. Luckily he was old school and in 30 seconds, said it was fine and told the gate lady how it worked. Screen will pass the quick stick test, but there are always going to be those that take their job a little more serious than others.

On my 2004 TC450 I custom made the screen type into the MX TC Ti pipe and used a dremel vibro tool to engrave a US forestry service label onto the muffler.....

This guy needs a spark arrestor too....Turbine core or screen type?
