• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Death Valley on the new Husky (TE310)

Husqvarna
B Class
My ride reports tend to get pretty detailed so I'll keep this one short.

Here are some pictures from our trip to Death Valley this past weekend. We had been there about a month ago and had a great time. We thought of maybe going to a different place this time, but since we know the window of tolerable weather in DV would soon be closing we figured, why not?

Left late on Thursday, which meant a 2 AM arrival in death valley. Beautiful drive there at least. (The RV belongs to close friends of ours......)

The next morning we'd head to Beatty, NV. The plan was to get gas and lunch there, then head to Ryolite, then on to Titus Canyon. I had no idea what sort of mileage I'd get out of the Husky and the 40 mile trip to Beatty from Furnace creek would give me a pretty good idea. As it turned out, the highway stint yielded +/- 60 mpg!!!

Stop along the way:

Lunch in Beatty:

Lunch (burgers) was over with and it wad time to move on. Next stop, the ghost town of Ryolite, about 5 miles down the road. The girls had a good time playing around with the leftover equipment:

Ok, enough of that...time to hit Titus Canyon:

One of the many abandoned mining outposts along the way. This one is Leadfield.

We made it out of Titus Canyon right at sunset and started back towards furnace creek, about 35 miles away.......

The next day we'd make a stop at Scotty's castle. If you ever make it to Death Valley, go there and take the tour. I'm not one for tours, but this one was worth it. Our tour was the last one of the day.

Great trip. Love this place. Now, if the weather could hold for just a few more months.......(you never know)

60mpg? I get 35 on mine. I'm guessing you run the 40t rear sprocket and haven't done the power up.

Very beautiful. Thanks for sharing the photos. I just bought a 2012 te310 and would appreciate hearing how the bike worled out for you.

Posted my impressions in another thread here:

- Bike ened up getting just about 60 MPG (on the road between trails). Huge plus!!!
- Seat makes your ass feel as though you just got out of a turkish prison (I know it's not for comfort, but neither is my Streetfighter and THAT feels like a plush couch compared to this)
- Definitely more rideable after making the adjustments listed above. Still think I'll go with a power commander though
- Note to self, ride the with your boots and make adjustments to foot controls BEFORE heading out next time.
- Love this thing!!

You didn't happen to run into some Jeepers from Idaho did you ?

There were a bunch of jeeps, but I can't say where they were from. A lot of them had these round stickers. Didn't notice what they said, but I assumed they were all either rentals or from a group of sorts.

yes i keep going back to this post just look at the last pic anybody know how that cloning stuff is going?? o well i guess we all did pretty good in the old lady department or we couldn't spend all this time on this forum but gp has surly got too be in the lead
