    My favorites:

#093-fastest woman desert racer in the world! (we need to get her on a Husky) She is supported by KTM and MecaSystem, and could finish top 15! She's a FIM world champion, has done dozens of big races, its her 3rd Dakar and 2nd rally in Argentina/Chile. Its 'game on' between the ladies on bikes at Dakar. Race within a race. www.annieseel.com
    Go Annie!

#213-Local guy from Cabo with a US passport. He will finish in the top 25, in shallah. Lots of baja riding and racing. Second trip to Dakar. He's ridden Argentina and Chile in the past, could be a break out ride for him. Second fastest North American at this years Dakar. Go Sunny!

#138-go Husky! Top 25 finish? Fingers crossed. He's supported by the Husky importer from Holland. Previous Dakar experience with a solid record. Fingers crossed. Go Johan! www.huskyben.com

Saw the footage tonight, very open along fence lines with 90deg corners, lots of overshoots,I don't get these bib moose dramas, what good is it if speed and heat cause it to melt and the time it takes to do an on the hop change without the tyre machines,it seems far from bulletproof,I miss the big twins, spectacular but dangerous.Bloody orange everywhere as usual

Versus channel has Dakar highlights at 12:30 and again 6:30, weekdays.

Sunny kicked butt and passed another 40+ bikes, in the dust, at high speed-baja style.

Lone Husky looks to be in the zone!

Coma @ 70mph average for 382miles, that's scary fast (not for me) I will stick to the under 50, mostly @25-30mph single track speeds thank you.

Jonah Street 2nd overall in moto!! David Fretigne fighting for the podium on his Yamaha motor France WR450 against the factory KTM690s!!
Fretigne is and has been a fierce WEC and French trophy team as well as sometime GNCC racer. The French always come up with very fast and smooth riders.

    Congratulations Jonah Street!

He wins stage 5 of the Dakar, putting him firmly in second place overall, and with 9 days to go he needs to make up 27 minutes to win the event.

    WOW.

1/3rd thru the rally no American has been in this good a position, ever.

    Knock on wood.

I've been watching them every night.

Does this work like the Tour de France where the overall accumulated time is what counts for the win?
  18. Ruffus Husqvarna
    AA Class

As far as I know, lowest overall time (time + any penalty) is the winner. :excuseme:

    exactly.

Its actually very similar to Tour de France in some ways. There are guys who ride back a ways and are there just to support the team chosen front runners.

For example the Dutch guy Franz who is now getting some top finishes, he was a privateer 4 years ago on a 450 yamaha, got some attention, then rode as a support type rider for KTM guys for a couple seasons. Now he seems to have the KTM ok to open it up and go for it.

The teams have all kinds of strategies and play some funny games, just like Tour de France, thats what im trying to say.

Its still a long way to the finish. Lots of strange things will still happen. Wait a couple days when they climb up to over 9000ft....

My buds Annie and Sunny are still doing well!

Hats off to American privateer Steve La Roza, he's doing well also.

    Interesting.

So it is not just 'winning' a stage, they are trying to complete a stage in as little time as possible.

Lots of people watching the race, and Cafe Husky.
