Since I traded my '01 TE400 for my first WR125, I've longed to have another single cam, for some riding I do. I am a 2 stroke guy for sure, with no regrets, as the WR125/144 really suits me for all my riding. I've also always wanted an early 90's Husky, as this was a period bike I never owned. I took a peek at Craigslist and there was a WXC350 listed. It was 10 miles from my house and I called..... The guy didn't know the year, but thought it was an '82 !!?? I didn't quiz him too much, just figured I had to see it. It was very clean and unmolested example. Only problem was it's a little hard to start said the owner. The auto decompression realease was out of adjustment (I wasn't sure it had one or was hooked up, but it was.). I got it started pretty easily using the manual one. I rode it and bought it on the spot. Pictures to follow.....
Wow, and old sweedish one, aye! Had a few of the 2 strokes never a 4, but thought they were a bit ahead of there time, COOL!
It turned out to be a '93. The guy had gotten it from his brother in law and really had no clue. He'd thought he'd seen '82 on it somewhere. I've been wanting to find a '92 or '93, so I'm a happy guy!
i rode a 350WXC for years, great bike, easy to start, easy to ride, a high comp piston, and a pipe wakes em up. watch for flywheel magnets slipping
Hay there is one like my oldy, the only reason I updated was there a bit heavy and no button, other than those 2 things they go great, chug up anything plus a strong topend. Mine had all the auto decomp removed for some stupid reason,R and D had all the bits, not essential bit it all helps in arkward spots. One of the better mods is the post 2000 Delordo float bowl with the overflow to outside the engine, stops flooding in a fall.
ok..... What does R.A.L. stand for, and what is up with the elephant? Maybe a FAQ thread at some point that could give some background on these bikes?
R.A.L. is the acronyym for Reed Actuated Lubrication. There is no pressure oil pump in most years of Husky single cam 4 strokes. They finally got an oil pump in 2000, near the end of their cycle. If you were paying attention to Gunnar at VMD, you might have caught how the single cam Husky was so revolutionary, because it was a 4 stroke top end mated to a 2 stroke bottom end. The bottom end of this 350 and even an '04 TE570 is very close in design to my '82 250WR 2 stroke. I would always be amazed when my '01 TE400 and '82 250WR were parked side by side. The elephant or elefant is the Cagiva logo. 1991 was the first year of a Cagiva updated design of the single cam 4 stroke. The '90 was still pretty much a Swedish 510. In '92 it was updated again with many new parts.
Nice find Norm! I remember buying some magazine buyers guide back then and seeing that all white with the blue gunsite, I was in love. Thanks for taking me back.
'92-'93 are the classiest looking Huskys ever. They are very understated and elegant, at a time when many brands were pretty garish by comparison.
I put a bunch of miles on it today doing enduro trail work. Awesome hill climber, lots of torque and really stable. It did make me remember why I switched back to a 2 stroke and why I love my WR144 with EFM auto clutch. Where it's fast and open this bike rocks, just like my '01 TE400, but when it's all off camber and technical it's just a bit much. This will be my grass track hero bike for sure. It needs a new set of tires and few little things to set it right. It's a keeper and for less than a tenth of the cost of a new Husaberg 390!
