  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc CR sprocket change?

Took my 125 out yesterday and for the trail I was riding (steep hillclimbs and very boggy in places) I was getting very little traction. Should I go from a 13 to 14 on the front or down to a 47 from a 50 on the back?

Also decided to convert to wr ignition or a fww. Wanted add in the classified section)

I d ont think gearing is the issue . Id say that changing to a bigger rear spocket may help as you can pull a higher gear - I went to a 52 rear sporcket for hills on a 125.
Try looking at your choice of tyres, tyre pressure and possibly riding technique- clutch control.
I dont think the CR loses to much in traction compared to a WR
A flywheel weight and would be first choice before WR ignition
Or a 144 or 165 kit

I Agree with rockdancer

tire , pressure in the tire, and ad some flyweight.

the last one is the ticket you need I think, unless you want to do a more radical approach in getting more displacement

Ive just looked at the gopro footage from my mates bike and my bike looks like it is set up really well apart from the extreme muddy climbs. Going through bogs it looks like the bike is moving along at a good pace so id say it was mostly rider error. Must ride more!!!

yes riding technique is huge. We do tend to blame our bikes
You also cant just change the cr flywheel to a wr one - you have to do the whole ignition system
then you may be less happy with performance -- I believe you need to make a spacer for under the engine cover for a flywheel weight

Pin it to win it. That's how I attack hills on my 125 anyway.

I made the mistake of gearing to 13-48 on mine, figuring it wouldn't make much of a difference. It's great everywhere but on hills in 2nd gear the bike starts lacking power. I end up dumping the clutch, which leads to 8k rpm wheelspin the rest of the way up.

going to try 12-48.
