• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

convert smr motard to trail!!

huskysmr449

Husqvarna
C Class
hi guys
I have made the switch to motard and have been loving it for the past 9 months but now am missing the trails so I would like to convert my smr449 2001 to trail .
I was wondering has any 1 don't this before if so would u be able to give me some info on what brake parts ,gearing ect that u have changed
I would like it so I called do a swap over from time to time
cheers

Just put kenda knob by tires on the 17s take some clicks out of the suspension and ride like that. The wide knob by profile will give you some great traction depending on the trails.

True, but the 17" front has a harder time getting over tree roots and and stuff. He says its "for trail"... maybe he can tell us what kind of trails he is riding. If it's 4x4 roads then no big deal, but if it's tight single track that's a different story.

OP, you can always get a 21" front wheel and use that. Of course, you will have to deal with the downsides of the 320 front rotor. To remedy that issue you will need regular TE449 forks and brakes. Really, it just depends on what kind of off roading you are planning on doing with it.

Here is my 2010 smr in the trail set up
it is fun to switch back and forth but at last there is no place in my neck of the woods
to ride off road so I never got to use it more used it as a shop project to see how it's done

Since you don't use the dirt setup, do you think you might want to sell it?

Yes I have been thinking about that I hate to get rid of it but it only has 95 miles on it
and I don't use it at all
the set up is a set of 2008 te wheels with new mt21 pirelli tire's
arrow single exhaust with te mid pipe to whitch from duals to single
2012 te speedometer to accommodate the 21 in front rim with 95 miles on it
A longer chain for a bigger sprocket
plug and play system it is sweet

Only interested in the wheels. The rest doesn't matter to me.
