Some of you may have followed along with my other thread regarding the debris found in my engine.
While I had everything out, I decided to replace a couple of parts that had some wear marks, including the clutch control rod. The original clutch rod was mushroomed at the end, so it was about 1/8" short-- maybe less.
Once I had everything buttoned up, I put my bike in gear and was pretty pumped to go for a spin. The problem came in when I dropped the clutch while in gear, and nothing happened. The clutch was not disengaging.
I got to thinking about it, pulled the clutch cover, and noticed that the clutch discs were slightly loose when the clutch was not engaged. I pulled the clutch back apart, cleaned up the old clutch control rod that I had used as a gear shim/ jammer (d'oh) and stuck it in. That fixed it-- discs are now tight, and I got a good ride in today. :ride:
My question is this: Are there clutch discs from other bike manufacturers that fit the 510. I'm thinking that someone replaced the discs with some thinner ones, and shortened the control rod to make things work properly.
