  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

clutch has no pressure???

When putting clutch basket back together I squeezed the clutch handle on the bar before I should have. Took apart slave cylinder and am now trying to fill and bleed the system. Doesn't seem to be working...

When taking off slave cylinder from engine I found a big circlip sitting behind the piston. where does this go? Does not appear to belong there?

Would replacing the o ring on the piston help build up pressure?

Thanks for clutch info on the 2004 te450.

sometimes if you pul the clutch lever in when the slave is not attached to the engine you damage the alu slave body.the circlip pushes past it grove in the body.have a close look as that sounds like what has happened.if so about all you can do is buy a complete new slave assy.dan

Looks like that is exactly what happened. Should I buy aftermarket billet ones from the cafe husky sponsors or stay oem? Will i need a new piston too?

Yep, these things are hard to bleed ... You might have to reverse bleed it, meaning push the fluid up from the slave to the master cylinder ...

First, get that snap ring back on ...I can't remember where it goes because it has been so long since I replaced that slave 0-ring on my 08 TXC250 but just look on the pieces you have in hand ...And I can't find a break down in my manuals of the parts .. But that slave is not a very complex device so you might can figure it out ..

Good luck and how many miles on your bike? My 08 TXC250 has somewhere > 25,000 KMS ...I've just stopped counting the miles \ hrs so much as the bike just keep going and going ... Its a work-horse for sure.

oem is the best bet for your situation.dan
Just to close out this thread...

Borrowed slave cylinder from friend to ride last weekend. Syringe and plastic tubing at slave helped infuse mineral oil into system and drive out air. The slave that I took off was beyond repair and use. The aluminum had broken away so much that the c clip would not stay in place to hold the bore. New parts ordered today.

Pulling the lever with the slave unmounted = kiss of death
