Any ideas on how to loosen the clutch adjustment nut and allen screw?
We keep bending our allen's and even tried heating the nut with a propane torch to no avail.
What should the freeplay be at the engine lever?

Did you use a small allen in the hole off to the side of the jam nut?
That is how to hold it then crack the jam nut free, then turn the allen and shaft to make adjustments

If it's assembled I put a Allen wrench in the hole to hold the little circular bearing plate from turning. Then I put a 10mm box wrench on the nut. And a Allen wrench on the set screw. Now turn the jam nut to loosen it not the Allen screw. I adjust mine about 1/8" at the clutch release lever on the case this leaves room for the expansion of the rod.
