  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Chain Size for 50t Sprocket?

Nick McCabe

Looking to order a 50t sprocket for my 14' TE310r. I have the stock 13-40 set up now and am just changing the rear. Should I order a 120 link chain, or something larger? Or, can I just add a couple links to the one I have now? If so, how? Also, any tips on where to get a low priced sprocket, not concerned with it lasting forever, mostly price.

Get a 120. You will remove a few links. I just instinctually went here for chain and rear sprocket... http://dirttricks.com/. Dealers have the stock sprockets for not very much. Check Bills too as got my countershaft sprocket from him..

Lived in Victorville for 14 yrs before , El mirage is a fun place to ride , I do mostly adventure riding nothing really narly so I just kept my stalk sprockets on cause I have to get on the highway at times and I can hit 60 or 65 easy at only around 7500 rpms but don't ride that speed for periods , for your riding 50 teeth sounds good .

I thought I would be fine with it but the problem is in 1st gear to have any power I need to be going like 12-15 mph. On these steep trails I'm doing more clutch slipping than I want to, takes some enjoyment out of it.

Probably 100 according to gearing commander. Revs are comfortable at 45 and get real busy above that. Short bursts to redline, OK but I am not sustaining them with the tiny sump.
