  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Chain scraping inside of frame ...

kpie

Husqvarna
B Class
I have adjusted everything and it appears to be in order. Just wondering why the chain would be hitting/scraping the inside of the frame. Maybe it is too loose....although it seems to be aligned correctly. Help.:excuseme:

Hellifiknow!

Mine does the same...

I asked that same ?? when I first got my 510...

I think most do...not to worry.

sorry to put it this way,,,but they all do it, especially with an o ring chain installed,,,06 and my 08,,,,as for the 04TC I don't remember. That does not make it right,,,but its a quirk I guess.

We have some really great teflon based anti-chafe material at the plant,,,,I have used it in the past but never bothered to make a slider for the husky (this one anyway). We have the ears of BRP over here,,,we could give them an idea to machine some of their nylon(stuff) for the task.

Yeah, UHMW would work awesome and they could do different colors to match the frame. I think the reason Rick used Kydex is because it can be thermo-formed easily by placing a piece in the oven at about 300F or so and wrap it around the frame. Once it cures it holds its shape really well.

I was thinking about lightly sanding the affected area on the frame and applying some of that 'spray on bedliner' material. Although I'd rather have something more permanent like a metal guard. :excuseme:

Great idea ! Sounds like more than a few of us have seen this issue with our bikes.

Hellifiknow!

i run my RK GXW chain with the link to the inside so it isnt as wide on the outside & doesnt rub on the frame as easy. I also cable tie a piece of white plastic ice cream container to the frame for some added protection. The plastic is probably overkill with the link joining clip to the inside. Yes the GXW is a rivet link chain though i prefer to use the clip link.
hope this helps.
