So I'm working on a "77" WR250, When I split the cases I found some rot in the lower portion where the crank lives. Nothing rotted the whole way threw, just looks like potholes in the road. Should these be fixed or is it ok to run it like it is?
Could you use epoxy or JB Weld? My concern is if it can withstand the fuel mixture and eventually fail and come loose and be sucked through the cylinder. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, John

Sometimes you can just use epoxy to fill the pitting. But you should bead/sand blast the corroded area clean and get a better look plus you would need to do this anyway prior to any repairs. If the corrosion gets into the gasket mating surfaces then it would be best to replace the cases. Can you post any pictures?
