  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

BRP/Scotts Stabilizer on a '10 TXC 250

Husqvarna
A Class
I took my bike down to Jim at BRP (if there were ever a nicer bunch of people I cant find them) to see what could be done about fitting a Scott's stabilizer on my machine. Here are the results, super clean and tidy! The front end is a little lively over high speed chop, this will certainly help.

Everything is in stock at BRP- give them a call!

I could be wrong, but if your frame is the same as my '10 TC 250, there had to be weld ground away to accommodate that clamp. I wonder what that did to structural rigidity?

I had to grind off about 1-2 mm of weld at the outside edge of the top square tube and no where else. It was an inconsequential amount of material on an outside corner. I seriously doubt it did anything to the strength of the head tube.

what top clamps are those? they look weird but have possibilities for hand guard mounts or gps mounts. do you know if they have standard top clamps off hand?

The BONZ are designed to be the inboard mount for hand guards. I have CYCRA composites in white on order. BRP has the regular style as well- I opted for these rather than the mid bar clamp from CYCRA.

Looks really good. I love the look of new parts on a new bike. I wonder if that frame mount would work for a GPR stabilizer. I have the Fastway mount and waiting on Cycras as well. I kind of like the look of the bonz better.

Does anyone make a stabilizer that fits w/o altering the structural integrity of the bike?

Motosportz makes one that fits your '09 frame without any grinding. I had one on my '09 TXC and loved it. I loved it so much I'm patiently waiting... and waiting... and waiting <fingers tapping on my desk> for a version that fits my 2010 TC. Did I mention I'm PATIENTLY waiting?

But I digress... the Motosportz damper for the '09 fits great without any frame mods. The only (slight) downside is the fact that it interferes with gas tank removal... but in my experience with my TXC it is an acceptable trade-off because the benefits of the damper were huge.

Its laughable how little material has to be removed from the weld for the collar/tower fitment. It is not altering the integrity of the bike. Look at the head tube, then look at the area where the collar is. The top outside corners of the square tube gusset are where you file the material. Less than 2 mm needed to be removed. It isnt doing beans to the integrity of the frame.
