  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Best mod to do on a TE250 2010

I just bought a new TE250 2010. First question is, i was wondering if 3900$ a good price for a brand new 2010, i think its a freaking good deal but i don`t know the bike

Second question is, i reed lots of post about power, apprently it`s the bigest problem with this bike, not much power but i don`t know, i never tried it. If it`s the case what i can do to improve the power? What i want to know what are the best mod to do? I have a TE 450 2009 now and i hate it. Way too much heavy for really technical riding and thats why i change for a 250. Let me know whats the best place to invest my monney. Thanks guys!!!

$3900 seems like a good price to me. I'd look into the 12 port injector/ecu upgrade or JD tuner. I hear an exhaust wakes these things up a lot, though I have not bought one yet. My friend rode my bike recently and said that he thought it had as much power as his wife's 07 YZ250f once you get into the TXC's powerband. It has very little giddy-up on the bottom, though, so prepare yourself for a different riding experience than the 09 450. I love my 250 in the technical stuff...its very light and maneuverable. Even my KTM 250 XCF-W feels clumsy in the same terrain.

That's a bargain for a new 2010 TE 250. Do you know if the dealer derestricted it at all? Because straight from the shop, with nothing done, it will have underwhelming power. I think completely stock it's like 15 horsepower, but once you derestrict it, achieving 30 hp is the norm. Some can get it even higher with new exhaust. To start, replace the air box lid with a filter, plug in that thing on side (sorry I don't know the name, someone else will help with that), take out catalyic converter, and there are probably other things...Changing Exhausts will always help but watch that noise! Hopefully your dealership included the powerup kit, which would have all this plus 50 rear sprocket and chain.

I don't have experience with the 12 port injector but heard it helps with the low end. I do have the JD Tuner which is a really nice piece of equipment. It's like a jetting kit that you can program on the go, and rests nicely under the seat.

The best investment to make in any bike is gas. buying and using gas is what will make you faster, gas will make you a better rider, and gas will cause you to enjoy your new toy. If you need to spend money on the bike after enabling race map 1 and race map 2 well:thinking: then I typically like to spend money on things that will prevent me from having to spend more money. I purchased radiator guards, skid plate, and bark busters. The cost of them will save me the cost of replacing radiators, levers and engine cases. I don't have issues with the EFI so I don't have the need for a Jd tuner or 12 port injector.

I do have the power kit with it. Whats hapening with this bike is pretty simple. The bike was sold from a dealership in Alberta to a costumer. I actually lied when i said the bike was new, the bike has 6.2km so for me it`s new!!! Anyway they sold it to a girl in Alberta, Canada and it was her first bike. She tought she was able to ride big bike right at the beganing but obviously she wasent. They trade it at Honda dealership 3 days after they bought it so May 22 2010 and the bike is in the show room since then. They where asking 6500$ witch i tought it was a bit too high but still i don`t understand why they dint sold it before. I called them and asked them how much was their best deal and they told me 5000$ so i said it was too much for me, at 5000$ i prefer to fight with my TE450. The seller asked me how much i had to invest and i told him 3800$ not one penny over this price and he asked me if i had 100 000 penny more, i din`t think about it and jump on it!!!

I know the pipe make a huge differance, i change mine on my 450 and it make a decent differance, problem is i bought a Leo Vince witch is the best pipe i ever seen but it`s also the most expancive pipe for the Husky!!! Whay is the 12 port injector and the JD tuner? I defenetly have to buy the auto tune or something like that because im riding between 1500ft and 6000ft every day and with my 450 i couldent belive how much power i can loose. I don`t really know what is the best think to buy.

Henson 802,yes the catalyic converter still there so defenetly i have to remove it. They removed the lid on the air filter but thats it.I was wondering how work the mapping switch, i mean if you think its a good investisment to do? I think it`s not really expancive. Phoenix, do you think it`s a good idea to buy a TXC 250 CDI? I hears on the 450 it make a decant differance if you put a TXC CDI, or ECU what ever how you call it. Tessier, what`s are the bark buster? Sorry about that, never heard that before, may be it`s because im french canadian**************************************** Of course instaling skid plate, rad guard and hand guard are always a priority!!! Revalved the suspention as well and the bike is not gonna run before all that stuff is done!!! What do you think for the oxygen sensor (O2 Sensor), better to leave it there or put the plug include with the power kit? I change it on my 450 but never tried it without it.

If someone have any good sugestion im open to hear your ideas!!! Thank you much guys!!!

I just took a look on Leo Vince web site and i wonder if the leo vince on my 450 fit on my new TE250 2010? I someone know the ansewer let me know.

That is an awesome price.

Mods..... Just remove the catalyic converter & O2 sensor, install the JD jetting & 50-tooth rear sprocket and set the suspension sag (ensure OEM spring rates are for your weight). Other then that.....just get out and ride the thing!!

There are plenty of aftermarket up-grades available, but it's your call.....see below

Indysuperbike.com was about $40 cheaper for me.

Beware that the PCV and Autotune does require a bit of screwing around to get it working its best. I got really good results when I did, though. No extra noticeable power at full throttle, but I got much better fuel economy, a lot less stalling, and better throttle response at low speed.

You may prefer to replace your injector and ECU with the 2012 TXC version. That is a little cheaper and uses all OEM parts, instead of using the piggyback module. Supposedly that will still require a piggyback module to get absolutely perfect, but it depends on how picky you are about jetting.

Ok thanks guys!!!

So what you say guys is the JD jetting make a decent differance right? And about the auto tune and the power comander is you din`t see much differance exept for the fuel economy right? How much work it was to instal them?

About replacing the injector and the ECU with the TXC 2012 version, i never play with the injector on my 450 but i belive it`s a pretty simple job? And where is the best place to get the parts? Thank you much for your help guys!!!

The JD jetting unit simply plugs in and takes about 5-minutes to install. Very simple. To tune it is a matter of pushing a button and watching the LEDs on the face.
