First pic: bent kick stand (about 3'' down from the top there is a slight bend which caused the stand to rub/ride on the bottom of swingarm); and
Second pic: wallowed out spring retention hole; and
Third pic: bent kickstand spring; and
    Fourth pic: straightened spring; and
Fifth pic: straightened kickstand with repaired spring retention hole (post sand blasting) and sleeved spring.
A little torch work, welding, drilling, grinding and everything is straight and as it should be.
Stand will eventually have to be cut down in length and a new plate weld on. I have a feeling the stock length will be too long with 17" front and rear tires and not allow the bike to lean far enough to the left to be safe. Just have to see once rim/tire combo is mocked up and installed.

    Mattskn,
Not much to look at currently. Disassembly, restore and parts acqusition. Sloooooow process while on a budget. The only pics are of individual component reconstruction/repair. I'm a long way from actually putting parts back on the bike.
The goal is to build an inspected, registered and insured street-legal SM.
Texas state inspection requires insurance, headlight, taillight, brake light, horn and mirror. Turn signals not required if bike didn't orginally come with them. No emission test are required/run on motorcycles. Its basicly a "vehicle safety" check.
Registration is no big deal. Once insurance is acquired and a state inspection has been completed - just walk into the tax office with proof of both, pay the registration fee and they give you a license plate and registration sticker.
