Apparently they were damaged beyond repair. Rather than contacting UPS, we decided to fit some forks off of an old mountain bike we had lying outside on the scrap pile. The ecu made it fine, I was able to load BMW map#0 on without a problem. This should yield the lowest power setting of about 19 Hp.
I actually tested your ecu out before remapping it. As I suspected, it was far too lean for my fmf system, very poppy and flaming out. I updated to BMW map#3. No more poppies, thing made my 511 roar, felt good and that was in map mode #1. I updated 4 ecu's today.
I checked today and there are no new oem maps available for the txc 449. However, I have figured out a way to load new maps to a TXC ecu.
This made me laugh as I recently sent out the suspension from my KTM 300 to be redone. The owner called back to tell me that someone had already gone through them and replaced a few suspension specific nuts and trinkets with ace hardware stuff. He had to confirm the year of the bike as the internals of the forks were so unrecognizable he thought I told him the wrong year. To top it off he said the forks were filled with 10w40 motor oil. haha ohhh the joys of buying used dirt bikes.
So... Terry Davis (Ty's Dad) walks into ZipTy offices today, gives me this odd look and says "What the F*** is that"? He points to a large stain on the carpet. Apparently when you ride motorcycles in the Northwest, the forks become filled with water (or so I'm told, never seen it but okay). And when Danny pushed the release valve, out came a surprise... haha
/ Well i have ridden that in torrential rain many times and last ride was deep water crossings. I think I need to ditch the bleeders, I think they must leak. As i told Tinken on the phone, welcome to the NW
Hopefully Danny got your shocks all packaged up today, if not, Monday. Did you order TC header parts yet? Can't wait for you to try your megabomb. We've had really great results from the ecu upgrade, users have said they had snappier throttle response and more power.
I had a chance today to play with your forks. They work beautifully. I know, I shouldn't ruin the surprise, but I'm jealous, they are super spongy plush for the small bumps and tighten up progressively without the use of progressive springs.
So.. Did you ever make it home or did you get lost in a potato field?? I'd like to hear your feed back on the ecu remap and your thoughts on adding the JD to it afterwards?
Home, lots of work and cleanup before i can get to the 511. Hope to ride it this weekend as my 165 is needing some love after hammering it and then a big get off leaving the rear brake farked up, pipe smashed, peg sagging.
