• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Amsoil Grease

With hunting season flooding the woods with high powered rifles and "maybe" competent operators, it is time to do winter suspension and wheel bearing service. I pulled my swing arm and linkage off to inspect and replace anything worn. I am stunned. Over 1200 miles since the last service this time last year on my WR144/167. No wear or pitting period. :excuseme:

I had experimented with amsoils extreme pressure off road grease for this application and it worked phenomenally. No intrusion of dirt or water was evident at all! Here is a link to the grease I used:

If you can watch the video of the testing work. It explains a lot. You can not wash this grease out, period. I expected the bottom shock bearing at least to need replacing. Cleaned it all up and re-greased and it is off for another year.

My linkage and swingarm on the other hand are beat to crap by all the rocks in our area. :banghead:

Thanks for the heads up, anything to prolong protection is valuable information.

I use it on all my bikes, four wheelers, trailers, and any thing else that takes grease. I agree the stuff works great!

Thanks Wally.. Been using Bel-Ray for years.. But that Amsoil stuff looks awesome.. Wonder how Bel-Ray would have fared in the "pound-out" test.. :smashpc:

Wallybean,

Thanks for the testimonial...

Here is a quick link to the grease testing video.

I've been using the series 2000 racing grease on my bearings and and am planning on giving the off road grease when my other stuff runs out.
