• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

If you bought a set of ALTRider crash bars for your TR650, then please send an email to sales@altrider.com and ask for Part Number: T613-9-1000

Please note that shipments will not start until early next week.

You will receive a product which will keep your crash bars from creeping up to the exhaust header at absolutely no addition cost to you.

Please use the same email account when you originally ordered the ALTRider crash bars, if you do use another email account, then be sure to state what your original Crash Bar order number was. That is so random people which never bought the crash bars do not inundate ALTRider with requests for 'free stuff'.

This supplemental product has been tested on 4 different TR650s, and the feedback has been 100% positive, even after many miles of off road (and on road) use.

Editorial:
I would like to specifically point out that the TR650 is a deceptively difficult bike to design after market parts for, almost nothing is symmetrical on the bike.

In my humble opinion, ALTRider made a conscious decision to make a really nice set of crash bars, and to make them as strong as possible for as much protection high up as possible - hence the clamping high up around the down tube instead of using an engine mounting bolt, or mounting lower on the down tube where it is more symmetrical and easier to design for.

This is the end result after many miles on all test bikes:

Thank you Coffee for all of your HARD work in getting this fix to occur. It was obviously not easy, from all of the posts surrounding this AltRider crash bar issue.

Does this piece hook on to something and prevent the bars from pulling up, or does it push against something and prevent the bars from pushing up?

Thank you sir!!! Wish I could buy you a beer...

I ordered mine through Revzilla, hopefully this doesn't cause any problems. I sent a note to sales@altrider.com as instructed so I guess I'll just have to wait and see how this gets handled.

Yes, just tell them in an email to that email address as much as you can about the Revzilla transaction as you can, so they know the request is legit. Also tell them the owner of Cafe Husky said to take care of you.

Everyone: please keep in mind you may not get a reply until they ship out, or possibly not at all, which as I said will probably not happen until next week. This additional part is being handled by hand i.e. outside of their normal processing scheme (at least I believe that is what is happening).

This looks like a great solution. Do you know if it will be going out with new orders of the crashbars (from their website as opposed to revzilla)?

Yep, I got an email last Friday that the part is shipping out. They seem like a first class outfit to deal with.

The part was in my mailbox when I got home from work tonight. One of those jobs that takes longer to get out an put away the few tools needed than the job itself.

BTW while I haven't really ridden off road since getting the crash bars (go figure) they had managed to work their way up the frame with the nut almost contacting the header. Looks like the fix should keep that from happening again.

I finally got around to installing this and it was super easy. I'm pretty confident this will take care of the problem. Thanks to ALTRider for addressing this. I'll probably be making more purchases in the future.
