I found an '83 WR pipe. Wondered how well it would fit an 82 CR 250. Is there a major difference between the two years?
Looking for a little low end...

The cone is also different from a CR vs a WR.

I know on the 83 430WR pipe was a one year only deal because the 82 430WR pipe would not fit and I do not remember the hangup being brackets. The 83 frames have tighter engine cradles and the rear tubes close in at the top tube somewhat as well

I can re-weld mounting brackets. Thinking about it as a second pipe. The CR has no low end, then explodes. If I could get some low end it would be more usable for cross country and woods.
I didn't want to modify the stock pipe. I know i could get a custom pipe but they start at $350.

To calm down the hit and maybe add some bottom end rejet it like a wr.

Or find an 82 250WR cylinder. Has strong low & mid range and some tweaking( add the CR tunnels below the intake port) will enhance the top end. It might workout with the CR pipe, if not look for an 82 250WR pipe.

Have you tried the fit with the 83 WR pipe? It should fit because the upper cradle is longer than the 83 frame.

I went the other way around. I fitted an 82 Rick Asch Pipe to my early 84 WR Frame and I just needed to move the mounts a bit.

There were two different pipes through the years I'm not sure when the changes were made. One pipe had a verticle rubber mount under the seat area. The other pipe had a horizontal rubber mount in the same area. I'm not sure what years the changes were done.
