83 shock rebuild tips or tricks

Does anyone know of any tricks or tips to improve the action or the shocks do they have a shim stack, is there any hole that I can drill to improve dampening .. Im a 210# b level H/s, enduro ridder if that helps. I ordered the rebuild kit along with the manual last night so im going to dig into them in the next couple weeks..

I had my Ohlins rebuilt so I didn't do them myself. I had Rick Bozarth and Boss Off-road in Portland do them. I am sure there are different shim and washer stacks available. You might also want to try heavier springs? I know mine seem a little soft while sitting on my bike.
