83 dodgy kick

hey guys , has anyone come up with something better than the dodgy kickstart retainer and rubber bumper stop on the 83,s ?Either the rubber is too hard and won't let the lever seat properly or is to soft and flog's out . Must"ve had an off day in the design dept that day
