    Hi!

I've got the option for an '82, but just finished restoring my '80, would it be worth it? How different are they going to be on the track?

82 will have the 40mm forks. Different rear shock location and different frame. For sure better handling.

'80-'82 frames are identical, the only chassis differences are the forks and the swing arm/lower shock mounts. The 82 has more total power but it is in a much narrower range, it is a mid/top engine. The '80 will not be far behind in peak power but with a much wider spread and is a much more versatile engine. The rear shocks have different lower mounts but performance is the same. An '80 with 40mm forks is probably a better bike for the average rider than an '82.

The ‘80 case number is #2079. It still has the smaller volume crankcase. This engine with a little porting is a fast little bike. I raised the exhaust port.
