How long is it and what is the distance from the pivot to the shock mount? And are all the ML arms the same? Thanks, Ed

Looking through the parts catalogs at halls-cycle.com for my various projects, I found that the 1978 CR 250 & 390 have the same swingarm (part # 1510720-01). But the 1978 WR 250 & 390 WR, the 78 CR 125, & the 78 390 AMX have a different one - part #1510609-01. The WR one is 20 3/4 inches overall length, and the pivot to the shock mount distance on it is 14 inches. Also, the chain adjuster layouts are different on the 78 CR and WR swingarms. The 78 OR 250 had a 1510716-01 swingarm, but I don't know the dimensions on that one.

    SwingarmComparison

    Here is a picture of a 1978 CR250swingarm in comparison with a 1980
OR(same length as CR) Note that the 1980 was longer than the 79 but had the same width The 78 was narrower than both the 79 and 80 but the 79 and 80 were the same width. The 79 was the same length as the 78. 1980 was the year that the CR and OR recieved a longer swingarm for better tracking and handling... conversely it also now made the bike more stable but it was harder to turn.....

    1980 OR Swingarm (long 23.250")

1978 vs 1980 length comparison 22.250" vs 23.250" picture is slightly misleading so Ihave listed the actual dimensions here:
