So all bikes I am looking at are 2008 models. All are similar mileage, around 5000 miles.

I have a Beta 300rr for single track and I don't want to make it into a dual sport.

Looking for a day ride bike. Capable of doing around a 200 mile off road day. Obviously large tank (safari) will be either included or needed. All the bikes have racks already on them.

All things considered what would the biggest difference be between the 510 and the 610. I am 6'3" and 230lbs. I am not too worried about weight but I do want a taller bike.

    I have done this type of ride on a carbed TE450, TXC511, DR650, DRZ400, XR650R, KLR650, wr450f, and a KTM 950 SuperEnduro. I disliked the DR650 and KLR the most.

Additionally I am considering a Beta 500 that is set up for dual sport but it going to be around $3000 more than the Huskys.

Just looking for input on what you have experienced with these bikes....pros and cons.

    Thanks.

next time you are in cottonwood, take my '08 te610ie for a ride, darrin. i find it is one of the best all around dual sports (after trying it with 2 fe650 bergs).

only disadvantage seems to be the size of the tank on the f.i. model 610. i can prob get 125 mi on a tank and if necessary, put my 1 gal rotopak on the rack.

Really depends on the 200 miles of off road you are likely to undertake. If it is fire trails then the 610 would be good, Should you want to go into harder stuff then the 510 might be the way to go. There is a significant weight difference to consider. However the 510 does have a close ratio box with 5 and 6 a tad low imho. That said with a modest gearing change the 510 is acceptable as a fire trail bike. Personally I would split the difference and get a Husaberg FE570.
