Well I am tired of having gas leaking out of the gas cap on my 2008 610. It always seeps gas after I fill up and then park it. Been doing it for 3 years and I am tired of my garage smelling of gas. Anyone know of an aftermarket gas cap that does not seep (leak) gas? I searched earlier threads but the guys who used to make aluminum replacements don't seem to be around anymore.
Thanks Dynobob. That link is what I had previously found but two email attempts to that email address got bounced. I will try to PM him from this forum.
Husky 610 fuel cap i made. got sick of the two keys thing! pluged the vents on the left side front of the tank to prevent spillage when over filled. added the top vent to mine. its a one off, but if we have interest we can talk about a production run and variations. took the pics with my gopro. all i had
Ok! This is cool! Looking like we have some interest floating in. Should this thread be moved or renamed to eliminate confusion? Coffee--My whole family has been motorsport enthusiasts for many years. We play with anything with an engine! My family has been in the machining welding and fabricating business for 4 generations. Ive picked up on a few things over the years being exposed to all of it! I enjoy making things better and making my own stuff! Everyone else--Im working on the logistics of a production run for fuel caps [price, timeline, (coating, anodize clear or black only or powder coated with just about any color) etc.] As with any run, the higher the quantity the cheaper the they will be. I will work on a list to get this going. If you are interested send me a PM, even if you expressed interest here. In your message give details of what your interests are,(cap drilled and tapped for vent tube with plugs for old front tank vents, not drilled, coating, and color. Thanks
Count me in as long as it fixes the leaking / seeping of gas after fill ups. Also good if it allows more gas like this one: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=506643
My '03 never leaks. Do you overfill it? If it expands due to heat/etc, it's either going to highly pressurize the tank (bad) or leak (less bad, unless cause by pressurization).
I think mine leaks because the overflow and overflow is down under the skid plate and gets plugged with mud. I would like to eliminate that altogether and just have the breather out the top.
I finally got fed up with the stupid two-key arrangement. I just now took my gas cap apart and ground the tumbler tabs off. Now any key or screwdriver can open my gas cap, and it looks factory.
OK! Very sorry for the delay. its been a wicked few weeks between storms, trips, WORK, and life, but im back with it. im putting together tooling and working to free up machine space. work is picking up and im gonna have to squeeze these in between production. my plan is to make 20 of the replacement screw lock fuel caps. my rough count is 10 members with interest in caps. ive just set up my paypal also. i know, better late than never in joining the paypal fad. so to be clear, im ramping up for a run in the next couple weeks. the cost will be in the $100 neighborhood. some of you have expressed interest in this thread, some have PMed me. if anyone has interest please pm me, and we can discuss details. side note, should i start a new thread to simplify this? thoughts would be great! Thanks!
