449/511 communication with ECU

Does anyone know what communication protocol is used on the 449/511 platform to talk to the ECU? CAN or K-line? I want to hook some data acquisition up to my bike on the track it would be useful to use the bike data, and not need to hook up a bunch of other sensors.

Helps a little but the TXC511 has (EFI w Mikuni D46) listed for the throttle body and the TC449 has (EFI w Keihin D46)

so according to the chart the Communication is 3 wire or 4 wire OBDII K-Line adhering to ISO 9141-2 physical layer and ISO
    14230 KWP2000 (Keyword Protocol 2000) protocol

Interesting I'm going to do some more digging thanks!

I thought all the 449/511 use Keihin FI?

Also found this, an off the shelf solution for the G450X: http://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911/kmsk

I was going to try and hook it up to a AIM SOLO unit, they have 300+ different protocols available. Then I could run engine data in to my track data all in one. Guess there is only one way to fine out by trying it.

    Domrvt,

Did the BMWs use Keihin too?? Can this be used on our Te449s?
I'm trying to find a way to 'fix' the sub-standard factory tuning of the Keihin system on my TE449 without putting a piggy-back ecu on it.
There are thousands of Japanese road bikes running very well with Keihin efi on them.
I'm a mechanic, I want to fix the system, not put a bandaid over it.
The dealer/importer in Australia is unable to help me.

The BMW G450X used the same Keihin FI. I read on this forum that an ECU from a BMW will work on a 449/511. I have no personal experience with this. Given that, I suspect the GS-911 unit could work with the 449/511 bikes. However it might have a check built in to determine the bike model, since it works on a range of BMWs, and fail when it finds a Husqvarna model. You might want to send a message to the manufacturer of the GS-911 to see if they can answer that. On their website, they state the unit cannot flash maps. So if that's your ultimate goal then this might not be appropriate. And for what it's worth, the PCV is a very nice band-aid.

The BMW ecu does work with the 449, I have one. It has map 3 flashed onto it.

PCV is used by many factory race teams. Because of its tunability to ignition, fuel and temperature.

    Mr. Stephen,

Old thread I know, but did you have any luck talking to the K-line through the diagnosis plug??
I have a copy of the HST software but not the hardware (HVA box & leads).
Wondering if you found any adapters that worked for you?

Honestly lost interest. Thought it would be cool, but never took it any further.

The software you have, is it a disk and key or just a folder copy?

As a software engineer, I'd like to get a copy of a map file. I.e. like Map #3 to see if I can de-compile it to turn of the map II O2 sensor override. And to override the target AFRs on both maps. That one little fix would help out a lot of people who cannot afford a PCV or JD.

Oh yea, I forgot about this. I started to research the DIY map tuning before I got my piggy back. This software has some potential: http://tuneecu.com/TuneECU_En/mapedit.html
I stopped when I couldn't find any info on communication cable (didn't really look too hard because I realized I would need a backup ECU in case I stuffed one -- and they ain't cheap).
