390 Cr Kickstart Ratchet Noise

Fresh engine build on My 78 390 cr ,checking flywheel torque after break n run with plug out, turning over with flywheel I am hearing the kickstart ratchet klicking. I cannot remember if this is normal or I need to pull the clutch cover back off.Everything works well except for that klicking. Thanks for any help in advance.

The 2 sprockets with the teeth must be too close.
There is perhaps an adjustment to be made with the stroke and the positioning of the kick on the axis.

If the kick start is on the wrong spline it holds the shaft rotated far enough back that the guide plate doesnt hold the ratchet fully dis engaged

Thank You,found the new spring tang to long by 1/8 holding gear out .
