I'm considering either buying a used 2016 FE 350S with 630 miles, or a new left-over 2018 model. Any significant chassis, engine, or fueling changes?

I believe the newer engine is supposed to have much more low-end power but still rev way out. Lighter weight as well.

Haven't ridden the newer ones but they are supposed a lot better handling, power, and weight. If I could swing it, I'd get the new one over the used one. The changes seem pretty drastic.

2014 FE250 to 2017 FE250. Two completely different bikes in handling, power and overall fun factor. Would not get a pre-2017 bike!

I have the 2017 FE 350. If your looking to bump up the ecu, 2017 and up have locked ECUs. There are workarounds but they are expensive. 2016s are still great bikes. When buying used bikes, I'd say condition and price are more important than the upgrades which are minimal.

Having suspension set up properly for your weight and the way you ride is far more important of an upgrade than any new bike. At least for my weight. It would be foolish of me to think I would go faster on a new bike just because its newer and better than my 2015 Fc 250. I finally got a bike that is dialed in for the way I ride. If am worried about the newer bikes being lighter, I just need to lose a few more pounds to even it out.

You're right , but it's not near as much fun! I finally broke down and got my '15 500EXC revalved and sprung and it was an amazing difference - I'm definitely able to ride it much faster now.
