  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE310R hour meter and tach ?

AndrewS

Husqvarna
AA Class
I don't seem to be able to get my hour meter to function. According to the manual, you have to hold down the scroll button for 3 seconds. It doesn't seem to have any effect. I ran it for a few minutes after holding the scroll down, but it still reads 0:00.

Anyone have any idea what may be wrong? Is there any indication when it is working, other than the change in time?

Also, is there really no tach display on these bikes? Seems like a strange thing to remove.

Okay, never mind trying to help me figure out why mine isn't working, can anyone just confirm to me that their hour meter IS working?

I was going to answer you that mine does not work either, but I had a txc ecu installed from the beginning. I am not sure if the txc ecu has that function. Sorry, I know this is no help.

The hour meter does not work on the 2013 TE 310R using the stock map. It does using the race map but then it supposedly resets after each shutdown. That's by design according to dealer/Husky as I did inquire about it myself.

As far as a tach... No it isn't in there. Strange to me, that a bike with a digital cluster could ever lack a tachometer. I had considered a TT tach/hour meter for a tach alone.

I have map '2' (at least that's what my dealer told me). I don't see an hour meter at all...just a bunch of zeros.

Thanks for the all the responses!

My bike has had the ECU remap done. I'll try again, but I really don't know why it's not working. I know I've held the button long enough, because if you don't, the display switches to the next mode.

Blayne, the hour meter can be identified by the 0:00 formatting and a small 'H' below it in the display.

It shows it in the manual, so it 'should' be there, but I don't see confirmation from anyone that says it does work.

Rob said the remapping wouldn't affect the dash display, so I don't think that's it.

The strange thing is, the display cycles through Odometer, clock, trip, laptime, ?, hour. The ? is just a 0 displayed (and not referenced in the manual). Looks like it 'could' be a tach display, but again, that's not mentioned in the manual.

Since the hour meter should be based on the engine running, the tach would be a good thing to judge that by. I.e. if tach reading > 0, update the hour meter counter. So if the tach isn't working, neither is the hour meter.

Too bad, as it would be a handy feature, especially since there's no cheap ibeat type interface for this bike.

My dealer looked at my bike as well as those on the floor and then contacted Husky USA who said it does function for the race map. A agree the manual is a joke regarding being fully informative. Somebody knows including the engineers/designers. About time they spilled the beans. :-/

I am running the race map, and I expect Scott is. Are you running it, and is your hour meter working?

Mine shows the 0:00 with the "h" below. It never changes. Can anyone confirm a working hour meter on a 2013 te310 with map #2?

Just a bump for this thread in case anyone that didn't see it knows the answer.

It's frustrating to read the hour meter in adverts and in reviews for the bike, but not to be able to actually use it.

I e-mailed Husky NA asking about it, but didn't even get a response.

Sadly I am dealing with a few other companies in the region that believe false advertsing is OK. Much printed material and promotional items wrong.....

Sadly an hour meter and tach could easily have been offered. One would / I did assume this would be part of a basic bike interface. Did they simply forget to attach the wire on the bikes? Might this be too expensive for a $8k+ new motorcycle? Who knows :-/

So I thought I would check the 2014 Owner's Manual in case they updated the hour meter display section to show you how to get it to work... Surprise, surprise, it now reads "NON OPERATING FUNCTION"

So clearly, it never worked. At least with the older model, I could use iBeat to get that sort info.

What pisses me off is that they advertised a feature, magazines talked about the feature, yet apparently, no one ever checked to see if it actually worked. The magazines just regurgitate whatever the press release tells them.

Just bought a 2013 TE310R in Australia. The dealer put the full power race map on it and it also suffers from a faulty hour meter. I'll take it back to see if there are any firmware fixes as it is vital for service intervals when running the full race map.

Likewise! But, as I mentioned above, the fact that it is listed as a non-operating function in the 2014 manual makes me think there's no hope for it.

I was told by my dealer that because the 2013 models have new injectors, the hour meter no longer works. . I ride a 250R but assume its the same for the 310..

The problem with that reasoning is that AFAIK, this was the first year they added an hour meter. Add to that the fact that they tout the hour meter being a feature for the 2013s makes it all the more annoying.
