  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE250r

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Just picked up a near new 2013 TE250r for a great price.

I have ridden it once and was quite happy with the performance . I had a 2010 TE250 with a few mods and this one seems to have a bit more down low .

Havent seen much discussion on these and hoping that I can get some advice on ensuring its running well and what mods it responds to.

The following appears to have been done by Full Throttle in Brisbane-
De- cat
End piece in muffler changed
Exhaust sensor removed.
I was told that they then run in race mode?
Velocity stack fully open. Screen in .
Funnelweb air filter

Couple of questions if you can help.

Are the stock pipes very restrictive? - (I like that it seems to produce good down low power
and that some pipes take that away )

Are the pipes a different fit to '11 and '12?

I heard the bike can be kick started with a dead battery - that right ?

What sort of mileage would a tank get and do you turn on the reserve tap only when it runs out ?

If more HP is required whats the best pipe and ECU mod?

thanks

Most importantly, removing the O2 sensor does NOT power up the R bikes. They need the ECU reprogrammed with the race map.

Also, the air filter is fine. It's the filter cage that needs to be replaced with a TXC cage.

Since you're happy with the performance, I would be surprised if the above has not already been done.

I don't know about the pipes.

Yes, you can kick start it with a dead battery. That's one of the huge benefits of the R series.

Someone else will have to answer your other questions, since I don't have those answers.

U sure can, I know this cause my battery fell out of the holder onto my airfilter and disconnected. Bike wouldn't elect start but I could kick start it.

I
can get an easy 100klms out of the tank, just trailriding ave 40kph. Im not race pace for sure, didn't know they had reserve I thought valve equalized the tank . So I generally take an xtra ltr of fuel with.

Done 70hrs on mine so far and like it heaps, ride with all bigger bikes and its def not put to shame even with me riding it haha
Ive still got the stock pipe, the power seems fine. the xtra money for hp with pipes n stuff doesn't seem worth it to me.
But I did put a MSC steering dampener on it and a bit of bling from 7602 racing.

Yes, as bax3 mentioned, the two petcocks are to share the fuel between both sides of the tank.

Thanks all

I will try the muffler mod and mapping - that sounds cost effective enough thanks Tinken

The oxygen sensor was removed by the largest Husky dealer in Oz - Id assume they know why they did it
Not sure how the TE air filter cage could differ from TXC so much that it effects performance
We are talking cage here not air box . I know the TC air boxes are meant to flow better - or used to be on older models . .
I am happy that it doesn't let in much dirt -

Its great that they seem to have fixed the fuel pump -electric starting issue that was of concern in the bush

100 + ks of riding sounds good - I will make sure the other tap is turned on

Check the sealing of the funnel web air filter mate.
I brought some for my te310 and I could force a finger in on the clutch lever/ gear lever side. This is with grease on the sealing surface which the manufacturer recommends. Doesn't seem to be a problem on my 04 wr125, difference being the mating surface has a rubber piece on my 310, the 125 doesn't.
Cheers :)

Caboolture Motorcycles can remap to open pipe map (Leovince). Ask for the service manager, he's the only dude that knows how.
Removing the centre baffle is not that hard. Drill the rivets out on the header end of the muffler. Don't need to remove the end cap. Slide the pipe apart and try not to screw up the packing. Drill the spot welds out of the centre baffle. Bang it with a pin punch through the perforated core... and massage that fkr out. Gotta use patience here.
Keep the DB killer in and perhaps cut the length of it down a bit.
I did this and found a good improvement. I then installed a 2010 TC250 Ti muffler and found an even better spread of power from bottom to top.
This was all on my 310 but I'd say the 250 would be the same just a little less power everywhere.
I'm about to do the muffler mod and leo map on my girls te250r...
Thanks to Tinken for the map and muffler advice.

There are three maps in the 2013's.
1 = Full restricted (this is just to pass emissions and apparently runs like crap)
2 = Full power (98% sure this is what your bike will be running now, as was mine when dealer set up)
3 = Leo Vince (open pipe map)

I don't think the O2 sensor does anything on map 2 & 3.

Below is the TE air filter cage... they belong in the bin.

Thanks Boogie I will have a look at doing muffler mod and go see them at Caboolture .

Does the pipe mod make the bike very loud ?
I know a Leo vince system is pretty quiet

WOW - That Te filter cage is crazy - mine must have ben changed already
Thanks guys

It makes it a bit louder, but not too bad if you keep the DB killer in.

By the way, the 2010 tc muffler fits 2013 but the header doesn't. I've been told the headers are pretty good and not really worth changing anyway.

Thanks good to know

Just did another 40 k s at a mx track so that's. 110 kilometres without turning right side tap on (forgot to)

Bike handles good and soaks big jumps pretty well . it's running a lot of preload and i am thinking a heavier spring would be good . I'm about 82 kg
Bit of oil coming from where the wires come out on left side.

Get a bit of gasket goo all around the rubber grommet and push some in between the wires. The cover needs a bit of effort to remove because of alternator magnetism.

Some yammy (kayaba) springs are interchangeable. I've actually got a KX450f racetech 6.0kg in mine, the dimensions are a bit different but it fits and works.

Just finished the muffler mod, Now to get the leo vince map loaded
Hopefully done by Friday to test out over weekend

What did you think of map and pipe mod?

I liked it but found removing the centre baffle moved the power up too far with the expense of bottom end. I tested this with the full power map then loaded the open pipe map. It felt too rich on low rpm with the open pipe map and I did flame out a few times lugging up hills. Screaming top tho..

I think the internal diameter of the stock pipes is too large (approx. 46mm) with this mod and a smaller core ID is the real answer. I swapped out for a 2010 tc250 pipe with an ID of approx 41mm. This is on my te310r with open pipe map and is working well with a good spread of power.

I've just loaded the open pipe map on my girls te250r and modded the stock muffler... I removed the centre baffle and did another free mod in an effort to keep a good power spread.

I've had a 5 min ride and the bottom end power seems really good. The real test is tomorrow and I'll report on that other free mod if it works out well and the bike doesn't fall flat on its face in the top end.

Had a good ride on the 250 today and it is running much better with open pipe map and modified oval core muffler.

Can u tell me where I can buy connector for removing O2 sensor? because of this I can't do it full power... Help me please...

I'm not sure if the 2012 items are the same as the 2009 items. If they are, the part # for the plug is 8000A7724. I hope someone else can confirm whether they are different for the 2012 models.

There is also an ebay seller that has an equivalent. I don't think it's the OEM part, but you can see it here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oxygen-o2...95?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cc3f0aa9b

You can also order the blanking plug for the exhaust from the same seller, here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251060316293

I know the blanking plug is different from OEM because the OEM plug has holes for safety wire.
