  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 310r Idle adjustment. Only running at 4 clicks, not 34.

Here is an interesting issue.
I went to set my idle knob to the factory setting and work from there since I didn't like how the bike was idling and popping when rolling at low speed.

Using the manual I made sure that the bike was warmed up, then with the knob pushed in I spun the knob counterclockwise (left) until it stopped. Interestingly enough it only went four "clicks" before not being able to turn it anymore. (approx. 3/4 of a full turn)

I thought this was interesting since the manual call for the knob to spin 34 clicks to be normal idle setting. So, I adjusted out to 34 clicks and the bike wouldn't even start. I went between dead stop zero to 8 clicks clockwise and the bike seems run the same. ( I returned the knob to 4 after tinkering) which is where it runs and where the previous owner had it set.

 I have the Leo Vince tune put on by zipty racing, no cat, FMF and (I did just find the ORANGE AIR FLUTE in place, although the previous owner told me it had been removed.)

I'm assuming I'm lean given the popping, high idle (by ear) and non-ability to adjust the idle knob. So Given my symptoms, It seems like I'm getting too much air probably between the adjustment knob and the head. Maybe that boot that holds the FI is torn, or something like that.
Anyone run into this before?Snap62.jpg

Upon further inspection the air flute is opened up and unrestricted. So that can be taken off the list. However all the previous issues remain.

I ordered a breakout harness for the TPS so that I can check or set the throttle position sensor. I would really like to get the power commander V and wideband auto tune set up on this 2013 310r, might have to give zipty a call next pay.

not sure but I found many typos in the manuals for my 2012te310/ Maybe they meant 3 to 4 clicks? Cross check another manual to see what it says. Meaning checkout the user manual & the workshop manual.

IIRC (and I probably don't) they DO mean 34 clicks out... but they have the CW/CCW thing messed up. I have found many typos, errors, unit conversions, and Italian-to-non-technical-english problems with the manual.

turn it 4 clicks back to where it was and start all over. the idle is pretty high normally.

Solved:
310r runs great!

The official manual for setting the idle was translated from Italian wrong! It called for ccw instead of clockwise, lol. Runs like a champ now thanks to you cafe hucafe members coming through with the corrections to the manual!
