Going to look at 2012 txc310 to use as a dual sport to compliment my 17 te150. Any suggestions about what I should look for besides normal wear and tear?

great dirtbike, less so on the road. I take it NJ will let you license a TXC?

The starter gears are the only big thing that was suspect; but they kickstart super-easy anyway so it may be a non-problem for you if it has actually failed. Otherwise Husky has a upgraded heat-treated gear that is still available AFAIK.

    enjoy.

If that doesn't work out, a friend will have his nice plated '10 TXC250 for sale soon. He wants to buy a TE150.

The engine does not appreciate highway riding for any length of time. I owned one for 2800 miles and it was OK but not great for dualsport. It excels in tight stuff though.

Maybe dual sport is the wrong term, i just want a 4st for more relaxed trail rides as i had to sell my beta 390rr. Dont plan on much road except to connect areas.
Norman Foley and reveille like this.

It's a god bike and i have one. It handles great and has good suspension.

As was stated the E-start is not the best.

I use the E-start only to restart after a stall (rare) or when the other guys just took off ahead of me (often), otherwise I kick it.

The transmission is close ratio and it is limited on the road to about 50-55. Beyond that it is way too buzy. Your Beta had a higher highway speed.

You can run a 49T rear sprocket to help a little if you ride in the sand. Maybe not if you ride up North in rocks.

yep, you're getting the prefect bike then.
