  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE250 New Cam & Ecu ReFlash WOW!

g'day budweiserfrogie i was wondering if you could tell me the part number of the new cam that was put in the bike. i also just got the leo-vince silencer and ecu combo for my bike which made a small difference to the bottom end but a big difference to the mid-top end.
cheers:thumbsup:

don't now the part number for the cam.
but it is an official factory recall for the cam and flash.

If you received a written recall, please post it here. I am also VERY interested by this. (... as I am a tad disapointed with my new purchase).

Thanks in advance.

Budweiserfrogie is in Ireland and they got bikes sooner in Europe. Maybe the recall is progressing like the distribution. Call your dealer is the best advice, or the distributor, Ross Rocher.

I spoke with my dealer this today and he's heard about it but no specifics yet in writing.
Hopefully I'll be sending my bike back to him for a fix soon.

doesn't need the clutch slipping like a 2smoke anymore.

Do you seriously think we 2-strokers are gonna take that? What kind of 2smoke are you riding? You want low end torque and luggability you need to ride a modern smoker!!! Just kiddin' ya. Glad to hear your boat anchor thumper is finally making 2smoke power!

I am not the Dist, just a humble dealer.

I have not heard anything about a cam update. Sorry

The cam change is on a limited number of early production bikes to update the decompressor mech to the same as later production bikes.

With regards the reflash, I need to speak to Buds dealer to find out what was fitted as although there is a software update due, we don't have the reflash disc yet to actually upgrade the bikes... He may have a Leo system with new ECU which has the same bottom end improvements.

Dave

I find this very interesting as well. My bike is still (1month +) at the dealer on the cam holder bolt stripping out issue I had. I'll have to ask them about this cam as well. I'd welcome more low end torque for sure.

Doug

To my knowledge the cam is the same profile as the original, the change on Buds bike is due to the Leo Vinci exhaust and the matching ECU. There will be an update to the standard ECU which will improve the bottom end but the Leo pipe makes a great difference all the way thru the rev range.

I still have the standard exhaust can fitted, not the Leo Vinci.
& i still have the original Ecu fitted also, which i'm told was reflashed.
I don't know the specifics of cam profiles, but i am sure that the difference, between before & after power delivery is astounding.
I had to keep it in the right gear before, or it would bog and wouldn't pull till i dropped a gear lower.
Now it'll happily pull even in third gear from low speeds.

My apologies, I spoke with the dealer for Ireland and he advised the Leo had been fitted - maybe he has you confused with another customer.

The replacement cam is definitely the same profile and we do not have the tooling to reflash the ECU currently so I can't explain why your bike feels so much better, nice to hear you're happy with it though!

Thanks Dave.
I'm sure you probably know more about these bikes than me.
I probably misunderstood my dealer.
It could possibly be the Racing Ecu that comes with the Leo Vinci pipe that is in my bike, as I was speaking to him about putting it on but had asked him to hold on the pipe as I had a few hard days riding in Isle of Mann ahead and didn't want to possibly damage a nice new can on its maiden voyage, given that I knew what sort of hardship I was about to put the bike through.

That would perhaps explain it, if the new ECU has been fitted then you would notice a considerable improvement off the bottom. When you get the pipe on it should be better still!

I'll talk to Turk again and get him to clarify...

Cheers...Dave

I have the Leo Silencer/ECU combo on my bike and have not taken the time to write about it.

Yes this ECU fixes the off idle hesitation. It smooths the bike out and pulls stronger. I will soon get to compare it to another TXC and give more detail but it definitely improves the bike. It does not explode off the bottom on my bike but it does pull a gear much better. I noticed this last week in a tight Hare Scramble that I could actually pull areas where I would be on the clutch or down shifting. I have tried the Leo ECU with the stock exhaust as well and the hesitation is still gone.

I wonder if I can just buy the re-mapped ECU? I called the Husky customer support hotline today and they just told me to return the bike to the dealer. They didn't offer any info on a re-flash in the works.
