  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2005 TE250 Rear Shock

Husqvarna
Hey there, I have a TE 250 thats had the rear shock Rod cut to make the bike lower. I presume this was due to the previous owner being too short. I'm 5/11 and riding the bike with a cut rear shock rod is really uncomfortable.

Getting a brand new rear shock is really not a viable option as in my country (Singapore) it costs over USD$870 to get a brand new replacement. I was wondering if anyone was able to give me insight on where I may be able to get a pre-owned shock or what other options I have. Any help is greatly appreciated.

They did not cut it...they put a spacer in it.

Have the spacer removed and it will be stock height again.

Ohh really? How do you know they didn't cut it? Cos thats what one mechanic said after fiddling around with it.

I don't know how you can cut it. You'd destroy the shaft. The piston is on one side and the clevis on the other.

Could you cut it reweld it than re-chrome it? not possible I'd think.

Have him take it apart and change the oil and gas.

I agree..........my TE has travel limiting spacers placed on the bar inside shock to reduce travel/lower seat height a little. Should be able to remove that and get full travel back.

What I don't know is if the stock spring was shortened in some way, but if the shock is going to be torn apart, good time to re-spring and revalve for your weight and riding conditions.

And good time to do same to Fork too........plus has it been messed with to lower also??

Would think you could get complete suspension rework for the price of just the replacement shock, and when done right, it's worth the cost

It's very unlikely that the shaft has been shotend, likely a spacer has been added. if it has been cut I have some std. length 16mm Sachs shiock shafts in stock. 908 637 6385
