  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st 2 stroke throttle recall for Husky?

venturini

Husqvarna
AA Class
So KTM, GasGas, Husaberg, Beta, and Husqvarna all use Domino throttles. However, it seems that only KTM has issued a recall for the 2013 "updated" throttle. Anyone hear anything about Husky or any other company using the Domino throttle housing issuing a recall? It appears that the fault is in the white wheel and the lack of a cable groove in the housing itself.

my throttle has stuck on my 144 2013 cr. once after a tip over. i think its faulty and dont trust it.

Did hear of a youngster on a new 144/150ktm having a problem on the starting line where the thing was stuck wfo as the cable slips under or over the wheel but no other rumours or miss haps so far in the UK

I was riding with a friend 3 weeks ago. He was on a brand new 2013 Husaberg 300. First ride on the new bike. Throttle stuck wide open on a fast forest road in a rocky rutted downhill corner and he almost went off the side of the road into a ravine.

my thottle is constanly going WFO, i love it!

they recall the mighty Porkster and fix that?

gona be a fight!

come on. this is serious. called my dealer. nothing . told me to take my bike in under warranty. im gonna compare my throttle to the recalled ktm. then get the updated ktm version. my ktm dealer here didnt have any info either. is there a difference between earlier throttles and the 13? im gonna call and see if the part number is the same

that sounded crash induced? I have not seen many if any posts here on CH to see that there is an issue. Not saying there is not an issue just trying to see if there is for real.

Sounds like someone won a law suit they shouldn't have. Sticking thottle is always the result of poor job working on things, little attention to deatail, or crash damage. Tons of on and off road motorcycles don't have a groove in the throttle cam if cable goes onto cam straight and carb has a spring and its all in good working order it can't mess up. If they recall throttle I will not be wasting my time by changing it. If they do anything they should put a cable on that runs infront of bars so people have less of a chance of messing up running cable the right way.

this is a "defect", persay....

the '06 Yamy recall, was due to a mismatch cable/windscreen bracket combo.

bout the only two that come to mind that are not rider fault.

every 'stuck throttle' i've ever seen that's wasnt a recall (uber uber rare) is due to pilot error, the cable frays, or is misrouted, or the carb is trashed up, or the tube is fouled/binding on something. 99/100 sticky throttles are due to dirt/trash/damage. start there. if yer not sure how? see below.

there's a million things that can cause it. and if it's been dumped and THEN it sticks? yer darn right it's "serious". but it aint the makers fault either. im sorry you dont trust your bike, not a good feeling. my professional suggestion is: pul lthe plug wire, then, see a factory trained tech for inspection ASAP- before you do anything else.

i just took my throttle apart. it appears to be identicle to the ktms. i found a pic and story about the recall on the two stroke motocross site. sory i dont no how to post a link. i will be going to my ktm dealer and getting the upgrade. i have a 350 and hav had to spend a fortune on it to keep it runnin so they know me well. lol. ireguardless of what you guys say i know mine is fffed. im 44 and bin riding since i was 4. i know when somethin aint right.

I received a recall notice in the mail today about the throttle recall. So it looks like it does affect us Husky owners after all.

Without the "ridge" the cable can get hung up between the housing Wall and the lower lip of the white wheel. I have had 2 of my friends already have this happen to them. Get it fixed. The white wheel is also modified with a lip that meets the ridge.

This is the KTM recall info and thanks to Jeff Slavens from Slavens Racing for posting the picture to make it easy to see what the deal is.

Interesting---what model was the recall for? I ask because we are still waiting for the Husky rebate check to arrive at the dealer so I can get a '13 CR125 but I called him and he took the top and wheel guide off the throttle that's on it and sent me a picture----it appears to have the ridge in it as pictured on the "safe" throttle housing above.

From what I was told, after it was discovered, some bikes were "corrected" at the factory. KTM had it out there first. The "bad" one is a new production part and the one you get for warranty is the "old" design. Looks like who, ever domino uses to make the castings just didn't get it quite right (no ridge). I couldn't tell a difference in the white wheel, but changed it anyway just to be safe.
