  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 1990 Wr260

Hi

I'm new to the forum, so forgive me if you've covered this before. By the way I'm in the UK.

I've just bought a 1990 WR260 that I previously owned in 1992/3. It still runs but has almost no compression. I think I'll need a new ring and/or piston shortly. My intention is to restore it and then find somewhere to ride it.

Anyway, a few questions: Does anybody know business still selling spares for this bike? Does anybody know of a piston from another bike that will fit (I think the pistons range from 71.425mm (A) to 71.455 (F))?

Any information about this model would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Regards, Ian

looks like they share a crank so it's an overbore 250, if you can't find the correct 260 part then you can swap a 250 top on
probably not going to find any aftermarket parts for this model, and they changed a lot in the early 90's
but the parts fiche is a way to look up part numbers to scour the web in hopes
the odds of finding parts that are 260 specific are some shop having some old inventory, and pretty sure that piston is specific to that bike

Hi,

Thanks for posting the parts list, that's very helpful. I was also very interested to see the ebay advert.

The piston shown looks correct and the part number the seller gives lines up with a WR260 E/F piston, which is probably what I'll need for an elderly engine. Given that, I thought I'd try to buy it but I've hit a problem. The seller doesn't show a postage option for the UK and the item doesn't show up when I try to find it from my UK ebay account. I've tried putting the seller's name in but he doesn't show up either. I expect I can't see the item because the guy doesn't deal with the UK. I even tried the 'make and offer' button from your link but the next step requires a US phone number - ebay have got it covered!

Anyway, at least I have some part numbers to go on and plenty of time, so no worries. Many thanks for your replies.

Cheers, Ian

Thanks for the links. I tried to buy the piston from the Italian ebay advert but the only Country in the world that he won't ship to is the UK. I think they are very upset with us about BREXIT! I'll strip the bike first and see what state my existing piston is in before I try the new from Husqvarna. Good forum though, very helpful. Thanks.
