Hi guys, does anyone here have an ignition side crankcase for an 87-88 250 that they would sell?
    Tony.

any single shock 250 case will work...and any primary kick 250 case will work as well if you swap out the swingarm steel insert from the dual shock size to single shock size.

I agree, I could have worded it better.
Any good single shock case half would be great, mine has the same issue my 400 had, loose steel sleeve on the ignition side, clutch side is good though. I could use Belzona as discussed in my previous thread about loose case sleeves but I would rather that be a last resort.

yup, long as its 250 case because of the crankcase size

I'm guessing the CR case won't work due to the power valve?

it would work but they only made 350 of them, so not as common
if you get in trouble I have a nice set of 87 cases and am done for the year on October 1st and heading home for the winter

Centercases are best purchased as a set as they are factory matched.

Guys I think you will find that this is not correct when it comes to Swedish Huskies, the part number for the left case is 161989401 and the right side case is 161989301. If these were factory matched as I understand most manufacturers do, then there would only be one part number for a set, not available individually.
My 88 400 has a left case from a 430 and a right case from a 500, all fitted beautifully, transmission shaft end float was good, crankshaft clearance was excellent, I have now run this engine in three Vinduro events and it runs awesome.
I agree that a pair would be preferable, but not mandatory.

I know the earlier ones had a 3 digit number stamped into the cases on each half. Matching numbers, matching casings. I guess the later ones like yours would possibly have the same.

Nothing I can see on the 250 or 400 or the replacement cases, maybe I need to strip the paint but it looks original on the 250.

have never seen any numbers to match on the primary kick cases..replacement cases ive seen have no numbers anywhere.
i have seen the 3 digit match numbers on the italian motors like my 360

I didn't see any numbers on the right side case for my 430 when I had the engine apart. Just the serial number on the left.

They may have been matched at the factory but if Husqvarna deemed a "non matching" replacement to be a satisfactory way to rectify a damaged case half, well that's good enough for me!

I will be measuring the end float of crankshaft and gear shafts to verify this and the fact that it uses a centre gasket eliminates almost all possibility of any mismatch of the mating surfaces.

not so much the case mating but the crank alignment

The cases may NOT be sold as a matched set, but once the Crank bearing holes are drilled, they become one.
