• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well, finally got it done. With the exception of some small details. If anyone sees something that isnt correct, please let me know. I had no good detailed pics to look at so I did the best I could. Thanks to everyone that answered my questions. ....Bike sat in peices for 6 years while I built my house Seat first Then the tank. I did my best to find pinstripe to match the husky decal, but its not exact. Polished it on the wheel

Shocks next Springs went in the blast cabinet Uhlins bronze I tried my hand at DIY home zinc plating. Came out OK. Frame next, and all the silver bits I wet sanded it first with 400 grit. Pipe. It was descent. I saw to lat that someone welded a washer in place of a broken mount by downtube. Now its awkward to use the little spring that should be there. Oh well... Assembly begins... Inevitable knick

Sorry for the way the text is being displayed. I don't know why.....Anyway, I was lucky enough to find an original Trelleborg ten masters motocross rear tire on ebay back when I bought the bike. I heard John Lefevre and someone else found the molds for these tires and made a bunch. They're gone now . Too bad there cant be more made for restorations like this. They make all the other rubber parts. Oh well... I left the original front brake cable since it wasn't to bad and had the little oiler.

yes you must be cuz ima readin it and we don't discriminate hear so bring your pale Canadian friend to the party i 4 1 wood  2 meeter

Nicely done, Rick. You don't have to apologize to anyone for the tank stripes, or any other part for that matter. You did it your way and resurrected another old bike from the dead. Good Job!

nice Canned-Ham. I have a buddy who used to short track one of those and it when like hell. awesome restoration ****************************************!

Nice collection R D , nice shop too. I think the tex comes out weird like that if you don't hit enter after the image or something like that. Don't worry Ive done it too, then I yell at the ole lady or the kids to come and help me...

Further to the question about the alloy swing arm.. anyone actually know if they were available back in 1977..?? or earlier.?. anyone have a THOR ( or whoever made them) brochure or advert that shows the date when they were available..??

I bought it new in '77 along with the shocks and Lectron flat slide. Thats the only bike I have that I bought new. Ill try to remember to take some more pics when I get home. ...And yes its a Thor
