I am trying to source spring 16 12 556-01 in the Uk but can only find 16 12 556-02....what’s the difference as I see these online - I can call them, tomorrow but I am impatient !

    Cheers Craig

    16 12 556-01 is also on the 420 part list. So I think that 02 is an evolution of 16 12 556-01.
Perhaps when the hook is bended 45°, which was another version of the spring.( pic from H. Fraft)

Heres a Service Bulletin that I think will answer your question.

So same fitment but the 02 spring will let the engine rev higher before engaging for a more agressive take off

I think it has more to do with being able to have a higher idle. Theres another Service Bulletin that recommends a fuel filter for the Autos due to riders raising the idle due to the pilot jet getting plugged. I don't know much about the Autos but as I understand a high idle can be hard on the trans when engaged. I remember seeing another Service Bulletin that said to never disengage the trans when its running only after the motor has stopped.

your not wrong but your reasons dont stack up .
So youre saying change the gearbox engagement point so you dont have to clean a pilot jet ? That doesnt make sence .

Itd believe its more to have a mx or enduro 1st gear engagement

I've bought to Huskydoggg the 1st clutch springs ( #4 500 DUF) which were said to be for 500.
The wire diam is more little than on standards springs( #3 Gatos). There's also one more coil ( 6 instead of 5 ).
I think they are softer than standard ones.
Has someone already seen these springs ? Thanks
