I might have posted this in the wrong section before, so hedging bets here.
I have a friend doing a resto on a 74 WR400. So he needs the peanut type with the gas cap in the middle. It doesn't need to be perfect, as he already knows a museum quality tank can be very expensive.

    Anyone got any leads?

Not sure what you mean by peanut type. Do mean like the one pictured?

^^^ Yes, that's the one. I'm no expert, but I guess there was a "race" tank that was silver.

    The peanut tank was aluminum

And that's why the Cafe rocks. All I've ever learned about vintage Husqvarna other than a little personal experience I got here.

The only silver tank that I know of that would have fit that year is the aftermarket Hi Point tank that had an unpainted aluminum finish.

The tank pictured above is pretty standard starting 71 on 250, 400, and 450's, its a 2.5 gal. There is documentation showing a 2.2 gal tank that was used during the same period but I've never seen them side by side to know if it really exist. 2.2 could be a typo.

Anyways, the pictured tank can be found on Ebay and now that people know what your after maybe someone will PM you with one they want to sell.

I think my friend is a little leary about Ebay. That's why I inquired here. I know that our members' integrity is on a much higher level. He is willing to go for one that needs work, he figured that's part of the deal.
