Hi , I'm a newbie to this forum and own a 1970 sportsman.

I bought it from the original owner in 1982 with 1500 original km's
on it. Rode it once in 1988 at a local ISDE fundraiser and since it has
    followed me in cold storage.
I am slowly restoring it for occasional use and mostly display
at Enduro events here in Canada.
I appreciate the links to parts supply on your forum and will
use them as $$ and time become available.
From what I understand , the Sportsman was perhaps the
first dual sport bike made and was designed by Edison Dye (sp?)
and intended for the North American market.

If anyone can point me towards more history , I'd appreciate it.
Mine is SH1175 , unsure of # of these around.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hi,
I have a couple of 360 Sportsman too, Think I might begin on one of them soon. I'd like to know what you find out. I don't understand the thing about the plating of the nuts and bolts. Aparantely this needs to be done right. Maybe spokes and nipples too. Also my tanks are all bent up. Tanks on other bikes are difficult but straight forward- dent pullers, body fillers, san paper and patience. Not Huskys. I'm told that you can chrome over soldering that melts over 500 degrees but don't know if that is the propper way to repair a tank. Please advise what you find. Also, my rims are crooked. Can then be fixed?

    Thanks,
    Erick

    Erick,

Wheels can be 'straightened'... I had my Akronts done at Woodys Wheel Works.. http://www.woodyswheelworks.com/

Your tank can be straightened... (the$e are just 2 $ite$ of Many)
No matter who you chose it will be pricy

    Not sure what you are asking about the plating but any good plating shop should be able to replate the bolts.. Just make sure you get ALL the plating you want done, at the same time. Generally these platers have a minimum price.. no matter how many parts...believe me you dont want to pay the minimum price for 2 bolts you forgot to take in, the minimum is probably $200 +... The nuts with the red nyloc, those can be obtained;
