I picked up a Husqvarna 83 / 175wr frame, swing arm, air box, front fork and tires. It looks identical to my 83 / 250 WR frame. Am I correct? The only difference I can see is the rear rim is narrower on the 175. I have a 83 / 430 WR ac engine for it. Is the frame the same?

Would like one of those (83 model 175) for the wife but they are almost non existent in Australia. She likes them because of the home page picture on the HVA site.

250 would be fine as the bikes no different to ride, just wack some 175 stickers on it and tell her you warmed it up a tad

    Is it possible to rebore a 125 cylinder (82 or 83) to 175 ?
Would be the liner too thin ?

I have one, and an NOS 175 cylinder, and an NOS LA Sleeve liner and an '82 125XC with the Husky Products 175 kit, with the pipe. The only thing rare about the bike is the piston.

    The '83 175WR

No, the 125 standard piston is 55mm and the 175 standard piston is 64.75mm, there would be no liner left before you got to 64.75mm.

Could you bore the barrel to receive a bigger liner?

Yes, the 175 cylinder is nothing but a 125 with a bigger liner. I guess conceivably you could bore and have it plated with nicasil but the liner completes some of the port windows with no aluminum behind it so you would have to weld up certain parts of the cylinder. This is all the easy part, the hard part is finding a piston. I was going to have some made and asked for people to go in on them with me and all I heard was crickets so I dropped the idea.

That is kind of painful to read. I put a lot of time, 2 years. into digging through parts specs looking for parts I could use and it went for nothing. The Husky 125/175 needs a longer rod so my plan was to get a rod that had the same big end size and a 1mm bigger 16mm wrist pin (I found one) so I could use Yamaha YFS200 Blaster pistons. The blaster piston starts at 64mm std size and goes up to 66mm. Wiseco can more easily make custom pistons if you can use one of their existing molds. My idea was to have them use the Blaster 200 piston mold and bore the wrist pin to the compression height we needed and leave the intake side windows uncut, its simple to ad the windows yourself. These could also be made in the same run with the stock 15mm wrist pin for those who did not want to replace their rod. Neither of these Wiseco pistons would have required the spacer. I also talked to Wossner and another company that said they could make pistons by making a 3D image of my '83 175 piston.

Not a single person commented on my request for interest in the pistons, I didnt even ask for money, I just wanted some input on how many I should order and got nothing so I gave up.

The missus is getting excited with all these 175's. Who can ship one to Oz for me? Then I could buy one of your custom piston kits too, Kartwheel.

What are they like to ride? A torquey but gutless trail bike would be perfect.

I have a 175 82 top end with a broken liner and no piston. But no HP 175 pipe.
What is the minimum order for making new 175 pistons ?
    And the price ?

I snipped a bit off a picture above.
This has to be up there with the greatest distance sprocket to swingarm spacing.
If these frames can be used for the larger generally more used bikes chances are the holes for the swingarm bolt 125.175.srocket.location.jpg are still in like new condition so a hardened washer or similar could just be added instead of repair of an oblonged hole. That is if the frame number and what engine is used isn't a consideration.

Michel it would probably be easier (cheaper) to get a new liner made and use a piston from a Yamaha 350/ 400 twin or a Bantam racing piston or similar, you should be able to pack the barrel up or down to get the squish right.

The RD350/400 piston is the same as the YFS200 Blaster and YFZ350 Banshee and IT200 piston, they are all 16mm wrist pins which the Husky 125/175 is 15mm.
