• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

08 SM610 which one K&N air filter is better

Hi,

I have just purchased all stock '08 SM610 model with 3100miles.
Did some research on the forum and found you use three different filters:
K&N RU-3190
K&N RU-1770
K&N RU-5006

Which one is better for my Husky ?

Thanks in advance for all answers.

None of those are for your bike, unless you remove the airbox. Personaly and from those in the know I would stick with the stock filter, you will not see a performance gain (unless you remove the airbox) and I think those do a worse job of actual filtering, which might not be a big deal for SM.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

I did this. It is a UNI pod filter, part #up6245ast. My airbox is gone. The nuts holding the airbox cover started spinning in their place and I had to mangle the cover to get it apart, so I went ahead and did this mod. I messed with a 3190 K&N and it is a horrible fit, ya really have to cut and mangle it to get it in there. The Uni molds around the frame better and doesn't need as much mangling to fit. It still takes a few cuss words but not as many as the K&N. It is my belief that the UNI filters better as well. You will of course hafta rejet.

I don't think it improves the look of the bike...
