'06 510smr Engine Rebuild Complete!

    Got the SMR engine tackled finally after piston kissed a valve. New Con Rod pressed in crank, some head work, new timing chain, piston, cam bearings, water pump seals, head gasket, cylinder honed, manual cam chain tensioner. First engine rebuild attempt! 300 miles so far, running strong after some carb adjustments. Thanks to Ty at ZipTy Racing for doing the machine work!

    13,000. I don’t know if the timing chain snapped and took out the bracket holding the chain tensioner to the case, or the bracket came loose and took the chain out but both were pretty mangled in there! New donor head from a TE as valves were bent and the cam yoke busted :/ Husky’s not kidding when they suggest replacing the timing chain after 10,000 kilometers! As easy as it is to do, I will heed their warning next time!
