125-200cc Can't find Mikuni jet needles for '09 CR/WR 125's

    I've been searching the web for needles for the '09 CR/WR 125's Mikuni TMX 38 carb. The stock needle is listed in the Husky manual as "6BFY43". I can't find a listing for that needle or any others in the Sudco catalog or any other Carb supply website.

    Has anyone tried to find any parts for the 09 Carbs yet?

    Have a look at these numbers from 08 YZ125

    the extra lean WR euro 3 spec needle was a 6BFY43-74.......and I just checked the change up CR needle is 6DEY15-74

    All I can say is the letters refer to the tapers dia at different points and these are triple taper....and the smaller the number the richer it goes....

    I have a couple of the yamaha numbers handy but.....I it will be a last ditch effort if I try them....

    Bear with me Troy, I'm a bit confused (I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed), are you saying the next richest needle from stock (ie., 1/2 clip position) for the CR is the 6D or one of the other 6B's in your lists?

    Letters DEY indicate triple taper needle. D=1degree taper, E=1degree15min, Y=6degree15min.



    have you tried all the other clip positions..first??

    here is an example

    Mikuni needle PN: 6dey26-66
    The -66 translates to the straight part of the needle being 2.66mm in diameter.

    Other options:
    6dey26-67 = 2.67mm dia.
    6dey27-66 is a 1/2 clip richer than a 6dey26-66

    going by this info ...if you want half a clip richer needle then its....6DEY16-74

    Yamaha YZ125 uses the Mikuni TMX38 carb. Their service manual is good for describing the needle codes. I found a 2008 manual on the internet for download... if I recall correctly it was from the Yamaha Australia website. I will see if I can find the link again.

    The YZ125 uses a triple tapered needle like Troy mentioned. If you wanted to stay with triple tapered needles, you could order the Yamaha needles.

    Thanks for this and TT post. The stock Husky E3 needle (6BFY43-74) is quite the needle... looks like a mechanical pencil with extra lead sticking a out!

    Glad to help out. I have been doing a bunch of research on the Mikuni TMX38 carb. I have zero first-hand experience with it. All of my previous bikes had the Keihin PWK.

    The TMX needle codes and pilot/main jet numbers are all foreign to me. The Yamaha manual helped to shed some light on the subject. I'm looking to get either a YZ125 or WR125. Since both have the TMX carb, I need to get up to speed quickly on the tuning of it.

    Do you know if their is a tuning software for the Mikuni's (like what JD Jetting has for the Keihin's)? His software was very helpful when playing what-if scenarios for temperature, jetting changes, etc..

    JD makes a kit for the YZ 125. Unfortunately just like all the YZ needles you listed it is a much leaner needle(fatter everywhere but for the first 1/8 th throttle positions). I have had zero problems getting the bike to run well from 0-1/4 throttle and from 1/2-full throttle. The only place we need more adjustability is that portion of the throttle that is essentially all metered by the needle. Currently Mikuni does not offer options for us that are viable beyond our kit needles. It seems that most all the guys/gals have been able to find enough adjustment with the kit needle.

    Maybe Kelly should drop his WR off at JD's for a while, since he's so in love with his new TXC:busted:...hint hint It seems as though it wouldn't take much tinkering on his part to make up a kit, but who knows...

    I'm in the process of selling my 07 and my IT, and as soon as that's done, I'm gonna pick up an 09 tiddler and join in on the fun of tuning a new bike.:thumbsup::cheers:

    New style TMX stuff is foreign to me too. The style in pre-'09 Huskys has very different needles, slides, jet ranges. The '09 WR125 is street homologated in Europe and other markets, so comes stock with E3 compliant crazy lean carb set up. Competition carb kit for the WR is different than CR125 specs. My bike runs well, I just like to play with the carb tuning.:cheers:
