It is not the rubber pads that screw into the bottom of the tank that are the issue it is the two upright stubs on the frame that engage the holes on the tank. The 09 is an inch further forward. Would be a simple fit for IMS if anything at IMS was simple.

Well then they be be cut off, re-located, and re-welded to match the large tank hole couldn't they?

Thats the plan. I would like a sacrificial tank i can drill holes in to fit before i start hacking on the frame.

Good plan and good luck. I have been reading post after post where guys want bigger tanks and I wish you luck in finding a solution. Now someone send the man a tank.

A while back there were some IMS tanks that cracked, anyone have one of those laying around. It may have been for the '07's though, don't remember.

Most of those tanks have been sent back to Halls/IMS.

If it was really simple, Hall's would have adapted the 450/510 tank. Not that you shouldn't try the move the frame posts method. Jay Hall told me he lost a fair number of '09 125 sales because of no big tank. He asked IMS to do a 125 tank, but as soon as they saw that the tank fit the 250F as well, they threw the brakes on. The P3 tank in plastic is held up waiting to see what the larger OEM tank is. Now that it seems to be 2.15 gallons, P3 may pursue a 3 gallon plastic version. They are also waiting on IMS as they have said they are working on something, but it doesn't involve Hall's.

    Just thinking out loud here...
Rather than relocate the back 2 posts, would it be possible to just relocate the front center post? :excuseme:

Since the back 2 posts on angled frame supports, moving those forward would also change the span between them. Whereas, the front center post could move along the backbone fore/aft.

Not really. there is not an inch top play with, i looked at that. Once i get the buggered up tank all will revel itself when i can get it all the way on and look at clearances.

On a side note i am very seriously considering building an aluminum tank that goes under the stock tack but because of liability it is not something i can manufacture and sell.

With the new suspesnion and new found power (jetting) I am really LOVING this little bike and want some range to complete the package.

IF HUSKY WOULD JUST PROVIDE OPTIONAL LARGER TANKS FOR ALL THEIR BIKES THERE SALES WOULD GO UP. HELLO?
